In Arabic Samar means ‘a pulpy fruit’ and in Sanskrit it means
‘a war’. Samar also means ‘to talk in a lazy evening’ – to have
talk about people.
SAMAR is a creative, social group of young and restless people based in Patna who believe that
there should be no boundaries among people.
SAMAR began its journey with the idea of sharing knowledge and social awareness among
youths. A handful of youths started this group, which gradually advanced beyond this limited
circle and organically developed into a platform for dialogue – among youths and youths with
the society. SAMAR never intended to follow or propagate one kind of ideology and hence was
able to absorb what all crossed its way.
SAMAR is in habit of continuous thought process. Even the name of the organization was
coined in a long and organic process. Development of SAMAR is exactly similar to evolution of a
modern language, which gets richer and richer day by day. Experiences of human lives and
essence of social criss-cross has nourished its body and soul.
