Communal Harmony Programme
SAMAR is a creative, social group of young and restless people based in Patna. It believes that there should be no boundaries between people. Throughout the second half of 2019, we – members of this group – pitted our minds to find ways to build or rebuild harmony among different social communities in rural areas of Bihar. We held various discussions with several social and cultural activists in Patna. Thereafter, SAMAR decided to plan and execute three kinds of interactive activities to bring rural youths closer to each other –
• Sadbhawna Cup – Cricket for Harmony
• Village Library Initiative
• Tree Plantation Drive
Research in Action
We are planning to develop a research wing of SAMAR with the slogan ‘research for change’. The purpose of this wing would be to produce socially relevant research, that will be helpful in bringing change in society.
Voluntary Teaching Programme
SAMAR is running a number of non-formal education centres for slum children in Patna and Biharsharif. We are also using the tool of Theatre in Education (TiE) to sensitise slum dwellers on social issues and their rights.
